Momentum works towards another milestone on its journey to excellence
December 13, 2004 - Vancouver, BC – Momentum Technologies, a global provider of outsourced software development services, announced that it had launched CMMI initiative last month. The CMMI? framework goes a step beyond CMM? and is a set of frameworks that integrates the existing CMM frameworks together to enable further process improvement. Using the CMMI framework, organizations benefit from improved internal business processes that increase quality, productivity and decrease cycle times, while stimulating learning and growth.
“The methodologies, processes and quality practices adopted by Momentum have always sought to be path-breaking” said Sunil Goyal, VP-Operations of Momentum. “We have kicked-off our CMMI initiative and this would result in the strengthening of our already mature processes and enable us to add value to our client engagements”.
The CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integrated) framework builds on and extends the best practices of the capability maturity model for software (SW-CMM), the Systems Engineering Capability Maturity Model (SE-CMM), and the Integrated Product and Process Development Capability Maturity Model (IPPD-CMM). CMMI best practices enable organizations to do the following:
- more explicitly link management and engineering activities to business objectives
- expand the scope of and visibility into the product life cycle and engineering activities to ensure that the product or service meets customer expectations
- incorporate lessons learned from additional areas of best practice (e.g., measurement, risk management, and supplier management)
- implement more robust high-maturity practices
- address additional organizational functions critical to its products and services
Capability Maturity Model, CMMI and CMM are registered in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office by Carnegie Mellon University.
